New Project

January 31, 2008

Today I'm continuing to work on a novel a recently started. I finished the first draft of another book, but to tell you the truth it was no good. The story it's  self just din't come out right. My advice is when you finish a project take the time to read it all the way through. I know you'll be tempted to fix mistakes, but don't, read it once , then twice and possibly three times. Read it out loud see how it sounds, you'll now if it's good ot not, believe me you'll know. And don't be afraid to be honest with your self. Remember you can always try again. Personally I've desided to put my last project away and move forward, at least for now. If anyone else has had similar issues with a piece you wrote I would love to chat more about your experiences and a what your doing now. Leave a comment or send an email. Have to get writing bye for now....

The writers journal

January 30, 2008

The most important tool for a writer is a pen and paper.I f you're a new writer or have been doing it for years, having a handy note book or journal to keep your notes an thoughts in will  help you find those fabulous ideas. Keeping a journal or note book doesn't have to be used to write down your secret and desires, but can be used to write own the simpliest of things. A friend of mine always keeps a note book in her purse as do I. One day she went to the museum with her kids. After writing a few notes about the things she saw and writing down someof the funny comment her kids made; My friend wrote a wondeful story for a contest that led to her first book publishing. Writing down observation,s thoughts and anything else you desire surely will help you find a great story. Keep a Journal and get inspired.

Writers Block?

January 26, 2008

Sometimes even te best writers get writers block, you sit ,stare at the screen and nothing. This often happens to me and I have a great solution. Every writer knows something about something, giving your self a quick interview can help you find some great idea's. Make  list of questions. Where have I traveled? What cities, states, countries? Any parks museums, or special places? How did you travel, plane, train or car? Go back in time in your life, try to remember funny moments or sad moments in your life. Use your self interview to create characters. Here's a few more questions to try...
What kind of hobbies do  have or have ever had?
How is my health or family's health?
What are you secres and/or dreams?
What kind of relationships have I had?
Use these question to create more detaild questions and alway ask what if...What if you suddenly found out....? Sometimes finding the story is looking into your own backyard...
Happy writing

Watch out poets

January 24, 2008

I have been a long time poetry writer, non published... When i first started writing online a few yers ago I thought it would be a great idea to try and publish my poetry on various poetry sites. I entered contests and submitted at least a dozen poems before I realized they are making money from my work. Everyone gets exceptd and published but you don't see any profits. My advice for those of you who write poetry watch out fo r scams because 9 out of 10 sites are scaming you. If want to really get noticed as a poet enter contests listed in writers digest magazines and other magazine related to writing and poetry. Usually a legit contest has a entry fee don't de detered it's usually only a few dollars. I would also like to start a poem page on this site if you would like to donate a poem ,email it to my email link on my  main page. Bye for now

Breaking in to print

January 23, 2008

If you are trying to get you work published in print, whether it is a book, a magazine article or oven a short childrens story, you must give the best first impression that you can.The best way to do that is witah a query letter. The query letter is so important because it lets the plisher know what you have to offer and it also gives the publisher a view into your writing skills. Make sure when yo are putting together a query that your grammer is prefect, keep it simple. Do not include personal information like interests or hobbies, be professional and humble at the same time. Do not use fancy fonts and keep pharagraphs to the left with a blank white line in between each. Make sure your writes voice  can be heard through out the letter, you don't want it to be a boring bit of information. The query letter is meant to impress, so make an extra effort when putting one together, and remember to edit and edit and edit. again. Happy writing.

I'm Back...

January 21, 2008

I'm back! Living in a cold climate has it's ups and downs. For instance it's great when you can warm up infront of a cozy fire on colds winter nights, yet it stinks when your phone line gets water in it from a major thaw then freezes up when the tempature drastically drops. This is exactly what happen friday when I tried to start my daily blog and the researching work that I needed to get done. My phone line sounded like crackling gun fire and I could barely make a call. After two phone repair man and a Cable man finnally I'm back. Not being able to access you wonderful people each day has been horrible. Hopefully it won't happen again. Well I have lots to catch up on see you later. Ragu

I bombed...

January 17, 2008

Well let me tell you all that I really bombed on a recent project. We all have chances to prove our selves whether in work, school, or play. Yesterday I wrote some articles on a subject I have never even heard of before. I started out confident and ready take on the challenge, then crash boom bang, I failed. What I wrote was boring and all the articles seemed to sound the same. I was really frusterated trying to write something I was so unfamilar with. Some subjects you can pick up no problem and other can send you spinning. My avice for the day is even if you bombed as bad as I did you can always try again. So today I will try once more to please my project provider. It's not often I bomb  but when I do I do it hard. I will keep my head high and try again.

See Ya
P.S Tomorrows friday, yeah, LOL...

Morning

January 15, 2008

Hello everyone! It's a new day and I have alot of work to do, I'm continuing my series of articles related t teen health and wellness. I'm currently looking for some new subjects to write and post here on my site. If anyone has any suggestions leave them in the comment box. Also I have posted a new profile on freelance profile.com. check it out or add your own profile.

Now I'm going to go completely off subject for a second because I have to comment on a new show I watched last night. The Terminator, the sarah conner chronicles I've got to admit there is some cheesy lines but if your a terminator fan the show it's self is actually pritty good. I thought the main charachter Sarah conner is very close to the movies charachter. I didn't thik I was going to enjoy the new show but it's good, and the story fits in with the movies plot, so check it out on Monday nights and let me know what you think.

Also I want to send my sincerest sympathy to the families in New Brunswick, Canada. Seven students and one teacher were killed in a crash this...
