Insperation from life

February 25, 2008

I recently got back into touch wth some old friends, it has been great getting to know them once again. It's been even more great that I can use stories from our past as insperation. Many people use true facts and turn it into fiction. It's great to be back in touch with my old friendsand it has been very insperational for my current book Iam working on. I challenge you to look in to your past and find some insperation. Write whatt you know and what you love. Bye for now. Ragu

Signing up for writing jobs through bidding web sites can sometimes under cut your skills, but can also help you to get your foot in the doorif you are just starting out . Some sites like Elance.com can offer som great jobs, for example right now elance as many wrinting jobs bothl arge and small. The olny catch with elance is after you have entered all your information you will have to take a quick 20 question test about the rules of Elance. So remember to read the tearmsand conditions, something you should do before signing up for any sites anyway. Here are some links to sites below... Happy Writing...

Researching

February 13, 2008

When doing research, whether about a product or for some information be smart. Don't just use the first bit of info you find as guidelines, especially if you do all your research online. Try to utilize other resources like the library, friends, local buisnesses and if you do all your research on the internet use the names you know and reconize. Check out the encyclopedia online, like Britannica.com read news papers you trust, read reviews from your local news online. There is lots of true valuble informatin onthe web, it's just sometimes you really have to filter fact from fiction, so use sites you know and trust. Whether doing research for an article or school project you want ll the facts and not all the bull that follows it, and remember if you can use the library it's still the best place to get the facts, for what ever you are doing research for

Bye for now.

Practicing Characters; For writers!

February 11, 2008

Sometimes great strories come from great characters, Practicing characters profiles can be very helpful. I like to use people I know or have met through-out my life as my insperation. Sometimes I'll use characteristics of their personallity or from their apprarence, Then I try to create a story for them, maybe the real person already has a story to work with.  I try to create a profile, their age, were they're from, where they live now. Include notes of imfomation maybe about a family member or a certain situation you kow this character as been through. Remeber the self interview I have mentioned,(previous blog)  use this same method for your character. Ask everything about your character and when you have your answers whether drawn from reality or not you have a character; a character wit a story, a purpose. Do this many times create many characte profiles, one of them will inspire a great story, maybe a love story, or a heroism story, or one that leaves us questioning the world we know. Practice, practice, practice and keep writing and creating, make it fun, make your characters fun too; even if you're just practicing!!!

Face Book...

February 8, 2008

When my husband and I moved away from our home town twelve years ago I thought I would never see my childhood friends again. After only two weeks of joining face book I discovered so many people from my youth on there. It was great when  I was able to reach out to some old friends that I long had wondered what happened to them. FaceBook is a great place to find old friends, keep in touch witth family and they even have job boards and classifieds. I was  skeptical at first but now i love being able to chat and share my life with those I know now an those I once knew. If you haven't signed up yet you should, especially for a writer you can find writing jobs and meet others like your self. So go and check it out, you'll like it. Have a great weekend...

No time to write?

February 5, 2008

Sometimes it can be hard to find time to write especially if you have a family an another job like I do. But if you want to be a successul writer you have to make time to write. I know a lot of writers who write before their kids get up in the morning or after they go to bed. Making time is important, as long as you write it doesn't matter what it is, just write. Often when I have had a crazy hectic day I find my typing away late in the mid of the night. I get some great idea's and because everyones asleep I get to write in noting but silence. If you find you have no time to write take a look at your day, if you have time to watch Tv or clean your house you have time to write. So you might miss your fav show or leave the dishes till morning who cares just make time to write, because after all writers are not writers unless they write. Bye for now...
